The show last night was an experience, as was the walk back to the hotel, more so than earlier in the day. The later it is the stranger the street life becomes....street "artists" some who do nothing more than take most of their clothes off and get tips for photo opportunities....lots of police about though( they keep their clothes on and don't accept tips) and the with the number of drunk people staggering around, probably a good thing too.
Wandered down to the strip, and just wandered....this is the town of thematic shops....M and Ms, Hershey's, shake shack, Bubba Gump shrimps. All the casinos are themed, MGM, for films and stuff, Luxor for Egyptian, Eiffel for Italian theme, Venitian for Parisian, New York New York for strange as it may seem New York, and an wonderful roller coaster ride, totally wasted on Nathalie, as her eyes were closed, but it was a hoot.
The RollerCoaster at NY NY.
This town is not a town for children, so sorry Saasha, James and Patrick (our children) we will not be financing your next or any trip for that matter, here.
Checking in to the Hotel.
As you can see above Nathalie is about to check in, only to find that this is the wrong hotel...by about $300.00 a night. The Casinos.
Many of these casinos, look, sound, feel and particularly SMELL the same. The smell is what hits you, as smoking is still permitted in the Nevada casinos, lest it drive away the gamblers..( like that will happen) they smell like a damp, dirty, underground tunnel, with no points of reference, no daylight, and the following photos will show.
Stratosphere
Fremont
Four queens
Tuscany
That same woman was obviously stalking us.
Harvey a young Philippine fellow accosted us and we signed up for a water massage....completely clothed. The premise is that one lies on a bench covered with a sheet of thick plastic, and ..well look at the photo.... But whilst we were waiting, apparently (or so Harvey misinforms us) 40%oxygen filtered through different scents will make us feel soooo much better???good for a laugh! but also demonstrated a TENS machine which at half the size of an iPod, was really cool and funny when the power somehow gets pushed to max when Nathalie wasn't looking.....
Got on the local bus 'down town' to the Old Las Vegas, where we were privy (as was everyone else in the bus) to a conversation between three AA (African American) women, about why she should have more children...there was an extremely strong southern drawl, so much was not understood, but lady a, thinks lady b should find someone who can give her a baby 'honey chile' .....you had to be there... Old Las Vegas seems to have far more happiness, and light, less hype, and a whole length of Fremont street for a block is covered, and there is a flying fox line along the roof...didn't do it though.....
Found a booth that took our photo and thought that in lieu of souvineers ( which none of you had any chance of getting anyway!!) we would send a photo of us from the D Casino. Enjoy...it's probably as good as it gets...
Currently waiting in line for another show which we CAN report on, called 'marriage can be murder' at the D, dinner included...should be interesting....and so it was....guess who was 'outed' as the only poelice(sic) person in the audience, but it was a theatre restaurant type of thing, a who did it, and it was Christian who killed jenny and nick Rush, with poison and knife respectively.
As with the show last night, and the audience and players tonight, Americans very much identify themselves according to the place they come from..it's always xxxx from Detroit, or xxxx from Boston. Whereas Aussies are Bruce from Australia....
After the show we went out on to Freemont street, it was awesome, clolourful, loud and had a lovely feel to it. The whole roof above the street lights up as an enormous (the whole two blocks) TV type screen. It had much more warmth that the uptown or new Las Vegas.
